1971 Topps #70 Gordie Howe PSA 9 - A Pristine End to an All-Time Great Career

At age 42, Gordie Howe was still doing things most players couldn’t dream of in their prime. The 1970–71 season marked his final year with the Red Wings before moving to the WHA, and he closed out his original NHL run with 23 goals and 52 points—a remarkable feat for a player in his 25th season. Already the league’s all-time leader in goals, assists, and points, Howe’s blend of strength, skill, and intelligence earned him the nickname “Mr. Hockey,” and by this point, he had transcended the sport itself.

This PSA 9 example is a superb, high-grade copy of a key card from the colorful and condition-sensitive 1971 Topps set. The card features vivid color, sharp corners, and exceptional surface clarity, with centering that sits well above average for this notoriously off-center issue. High-grade examples of Howe from this set are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially with eye appeal this strong.

An iconic card of an iconic player, this is a near-mint gem from the twilight of one of the greatest careers in sports history. A perfect addition to any Hall of Fame–focused or high-grade vintage hockey collection.
