1986 Fleer #96 Jeff Ruland PSA 9 – Bruising Big Man with Soft Hands and Sharp Instincts

Jeff Ruland brought an old-school mentality to the frontcourt—physical, unrelenting, and quietly skilled. As the anchor of the Washington Bullets’ interior during the early to mid-1980s, Ruland was more than just muscle. He had excellent footwork, a high basketball IQ, and could pass out of the post as well as he could score from it. A one-time All-Star whose prime was unfortunately cut short by injuries, Ruland made his presence felt in the paint with a mix of grit and surprising finesse.

This PSA 9 example from the iconic 1986 Fleer set captures Ruland’s focused intensity, framed by the unmistakable red, white, and blue border. The card features crisp edges, strong centering, and excellent surface clarity—hallmarks of a high-grade Fleer issue. The image reflects the grounded, battle-tested approach that defined Ruland’s game.
