T206 Sweet Caporal 350/25 Dick Hoblitzell PSA 4 – Cincinnati's First Baseman of the Future
A clean mid-grade example from the legendary 1909–1911 T206 tobacco card series, the cornerstone of pre-war baseball collecting. Produced by the American Tobacco Company and distributed through cigarette packs, the set preserved the players of baseball's strategic Deadball Era with enduring lithographic artistry.
Dick Hoblitzell was a promising young first baseman for the Cincinnati Reds who developed into one of the more capable offensive threats at his position during the early 1910s. A left-handed hitter with a patient approach at the plate, "Hobby" showed enough talent in Cincinnati to eventually attract the attention of the Boston Red Sox, where he would go on to contribute to their championship clubs in the mid-1910s. His T206 card captures him at the start of what became a productive professional journey.
This card features the Sweet Caporal 350/25 advertising reverse and carries a PSA VG-EX 4 grade, offering strong overall presentation with moderate vintage wear expected from a tobacco card more than a century old. A well-preserved example from a player whose career arc would soon stretch from the Queen City to the Red Sox dynasty.
