The 1911 T3 Turkey Red #23 Nap Lajoie presents one of the Deadball Era’s most revered hitters on a scale worthy of his reputation. Unlike the pocket-sized tobacco cards of the period, Turkey Red cabinets transformed ballplayers into display pieces, surrounding them with expansive artwork and beautifully rendered ballpark scenery. Lajoie’s commanding image is particularly fitting: by the time this cabinet was issued, he was such an important figure that the Cleveland franchise had literally been renamed the Naps in his honor.
