T206 Piedmont 350-460/25 Bob Bescher – Hands In Air PSA 4 – The King of Base Stealers
A sharp mid-grade example from the iconic 1909–1911 T206 tobacco card series, one of the most celebrated pre-war baseball releases in the hobby. Produced by the American Tobacco Company and distributed through cigarette packs, the set captured players from baseball's Deadball Era with vivid, colorful lithographic detail.
Bob Bescher was the most feared baserunner in the National League during his prime, earning the title "King of Base Stealers" from Baseball Magazine for his dominance on the basepaths. The Cincinnati Reds outfielder led the NL in stolen bases for four consecutive seasons from 1909 through 1912, culminating in his legendary 81-steal campaign in 1911 — a single-season franchise record for Cincinnati that still stands today. Known alternately as "The London Flash" and the "Master of the Hook Slide," Bescher also developed a refined technique of reading catchers' throws to slide to the optimal side of the bag.
This example features the dynamic "Hands in Air" action pose paired with the Piedmont 350-460/25 advertising reverse and carries a PSA VG-EX 4 grade, offering strong overall eye appeal with moderate wear appropriate for a card printed more than a century ago. An outstanding representation of the Deadball Era's most electrifying weapon on the base paths.
