T206 Piedmont 350 John Ganzel PSA 4 (MK) - A Scarcer Subject of Baseball’s Early Transition Years

Though not a household name today, John Ganzel played a unique role in the early fabric of professional baseball. As both a player and future manager, he helped bridge the 19th-century game with the modern era, making appearances for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, New York Giants, and New York Highlanders before taking on managerial duties with the Reds in 1908.

This T206 Piedmont 350 issue captures Ganzel during his time as a player, and remains the only mainstream tobacco card ever produced of him, increasing its appeal to set builders and completists. Graded PSA 4 (MK), this example displays strong image clarity, bold color saturation, and balanced wear typical of its age. The “MK” qualifier likely refers to a discreet pencil or ink notation, which does little to detract from the front’s solid presentation.

With minimal supply and a niche collector following, Ganzel’s T206 card presents an opportunity to own a seldom-seen figure from early baseball.
