T206 Sweet Caporal Harry Davis – Phil., David Front PSA 4 – Connie Mack's First Champion
From the celebrated 1909–1911 T206 tobacco card release, the foundational set of pre-war baseball collecting. Distributed by the American Tobacco Company through cigarette packs, the series captured players from the Deadball Era in vibrant, richly colored lithographic detail.
Harry "Jasper" Davis was the cornerstone of Connie Mack's dynasty in Philadelphia, serving as the Athletics' starting first baseman for a decade and their team captain from the franchise's earliest days. A four-time American League home run champion from 1904 through 1907 — a remarkable feat in an era dominated by pitchers and low-scoring play — Davis also led the AL in doubles three times and drove in runs at the top of the league twice. He was a key member of three Philadelphia World Series championship clubs in 1910, 1911, and 1913, and his .353 average in the 1910 Fall Classic helped cement the A's dynasty.
This example features the "David Front" designation with the Sweet Caporal advertising reverse and carries a PSA VG-EX 4 grade, presenting solidly for a tobacco card with more than a century of age. A fine representative of one of the American League's first great power-hitting first basemen.
