The 1914 Cracker Jack #4 Larry Doyle features one of the central figures of the great New York Giants clubs of the Deadball Era. Known as “Laughing Larry,” Doyle was John McGraw’s hard-hitting second baseman and eventually served as team captain, bringing unusual offensive production to a position not typically associated with big bats. Doyle was a legitimate star in his day, winning the 1912 National League MVP Award and later capturing the 1915 batting title with a .320 average. He also helped New York reach three consecutive World Series from 1911 through 1913 and finished his career with more than 1,800 hits.
