1952 Topps #105 John Pramesa PSA EX-MT 6
1952 Topps #105 John Pramesa PSA 6 - A Catcher Between Cincinnati and Chicago
John Pramesa entered professional baseball as a catcher in the Cincinnati Reds organization, working his way to the majors and earning regular playing time behind the plate during the opening years of the 1950s. His 1952 Topps #105 arrived during a season of change, as Pramesa moved from Cincinnati to the Chicago Cubs.
Graded PSA EX-MT 6, this example presents Pramesa at a strong level within Topps’ historic 1952 production. His finest offensive showing had come two seasons earlier in 1950, when he appeared in 74 games for Cincinnati and hit .307 while driving in 34 runs—a productive performance from a position where defense and handling a pitching staff remained paramount.
Pramesa’s Major League career lasted just four seasons, all within the National League, before he continued playing professionally in the minors. That relatively short stay gives card #105 a different kind of appeal within the set. The 1952 Topps John Pramesa PSA 6 recalls one of the many players whose time in the majors was fleeting, but whose place in Topps’ landmark issue made him part of collecting history.
