1952 Topps #37 Duke Snider Black Back PSA 5 - The Duke of Flatbush in His Prime

The 1952 Topps #37 Duke Snider presents one of Brooklyn’s greatest stars as the Dodgers were entering a remarkable run of National League dominance. “The Duke of Flatbush” had already established himself as a dangerous combination of power, speed, and defense in center field, but the seasons that would cement his place among baseball’s elite were still directly ahead.

This example is graded PSA EX 5 and features the Black Back variation. Issued during Brooklyn’s 1952 National League pennant-winning season, the card belongs to an especially meaningful point in Snider’s career. He would go on to homer four times in that year’s World Series against the Yankees, providing an early glimpse of the October power that became part of his legend.

From 1953 through 1957, Snider produced five consecutive 40-home-run seasons, becoming the centerpiece of a Dodgers lineup that finally brought Brooklyn its championship in 1955. He finished with 407 home runs, eight All-Star selections, and two World Series titles before earning induction into Cooperstown. The 1952 Topps Duke Snider Black Back PSA 5 captures a Hall of Famer on the doorstep of his greatest years—Brooklyn’s Duke just before he ruled the National League.
