The 1954 Topps #128 Hank Aaron introduces one of baseball’s greatest careers with remarkable simplicity: a 20-year-old Milwaukee Brave staring out from his first Topps card, years before “Hammerin’ Hank” would become synonymous with consistency, power, and one of the most celebrated records in American sports. Aaron arrived in Milwaukee in 1954 after a rapid climb through the Negro Leagues and minor leagues, and although his rookie season was cut short by injury, he showed immediately that he belonged. Within a few years, the young outfielder pictured here would be an MVP, a World Series champion, and one of the National League’s brightest stars.

Then, on April 8, 1974, Aaron launched career home run No. 715, surpassing Babe Ruth and reaching a place no Major League hitter had ever occupied.
