The 1960 Topps #316 Willie McCovey All-Star Rookie followed one of the most explosive introductions baseball had seen. Called up by San Francisco in July 1959, the 21-year-old McCovey immediately announced himself by going 4-for-4 with two triples against Hall of Famer Robin Roberts in his Major League debut. He played only 52 games that season, yet batted .354 with 13 home runs and 38 RBI—more than enough to earn unanimous National League Rookie of the Year honors.
